Treatment analysis:
Otoplasty is a fairly popular treatment amongst children (and to a lesser extent adults) who want to fix protruding ears or other ear deformities. Conducted from as early as the age of 10, this surgical solution allows the doctor to change the shape, position or size of the ears. The aim of the surgery can either be to correct a deformity or improve the appearance of one’s ears.
There are two core otoplasty options available: a) Otopexy (ear pin back) and b) Ear Reduction – both of which can effectively treat the ear problems involved.
Ideal Candidate:
Patients, and children in particular tend to seek out otoplasty surgery to treat protruding or deformed ears primarily due to bullying and/or self-esteem reasons. The range of problems varies from having too large or protruding ears, to even missing ears, however the good news is that science has you covered!
