Healthy skin starts from a proper face cleanse
It is well known that throughout the day, air pollutants accumulate on the face -in addition to any makeup products used. It is therefore deemed necessary and essential to cleanse facial skin right before going to bed so as to eliminate any impurities and dead cells that clog pores and cause skin imperfections.
By washing your face rigorously and properly as part of your daily night routine, you will be able to achieve and maintain health and beautiful skin. Nighttime is a must as that is the time when the skin’s metabolism is at its optimal level – therefore making it ideal to benefit from all the skincare benefits and ingredients when applying serums and creams.
Tips to maintain healthy & beautiful skin
- Remove all makeup properly: It is imperative to remove and clean your makeup at the end of the day. It is advised to use a gentle makeup remover, preferably suitable for all skin types and with good hydro and lipophilic properties in order to allow easy removal without the need for excessive rubbing on the face, neck and the eyelids in particular. Try to avoid micellar waters on a daily basis as they tend to be aggressive on the skin and may dehydrate it in the long term. Ideally, we would recommend that you use cleansing oils, which are also good for dry, sensitive and oily skin types.
- Wash your face well when wearing makeup: Proceed to cleanse your face after you have removed all your makeup. Avoid using hand or body soap to cleanse your face as much as possible. Marseille soap, for example, is not recommended for the face. Since facial skin is more sensitive than the skin on the rest of the body, overly aggressive soaps can dry it out and cause irritation. Any facial cleansing should be conducted with your hands with very gentle movements. Some people tend to prefer cleaning brushes however we don’t recommend them, as they may be too aggressive on the skin if used daily. We also recommend that you only proceed with this step on days where skin feels dirtier or if you have applied makeup.
- Rinse your face thoroughly: Ensure that there are no more traces of any cleansing or exfoliating product on your face. Again, all motions must be gentle. Avoid using excessively hot water that could dry out, irritate, aggravate redness or cause vessel dilation on certain people’s skin. A great tip is to use organic floral water, either chamomile or rose water to rinse off your face as they alternatives get the job done and have soothing properties.
- Finish off by applying a treatment: This step is essential so as to avoid any skin tightness but also since the skin that has undergone vigorous cleaning is ready to absorb the serum and the cream of your choice. The least you could apply is a nourishing cream whose texture must be adapted to your skin type. In addition if you want to treat the skin, now is the ideal time to apply a serum (prior to the cream) so that the soothing, pigmentation or anti-acne properties can take place overnight.
- What about scrubs? Scrubs are actually ideal for those with oily skin or skin imperfections. The key rule when it comes to scrubbing is to be as gentle as possible with your hand motions, avoid the eye area and to not apply more than twice per week.
